Some thoughts about Jesus as He makes His way.
I can’t stop thinking about the cross.
If you and I could sit down together over coffee or tea and talk about it.
I’d want to know.
What do you think about when you think about the cross?
What comes to mind when you think about Jesus making His way?
The cross was on His mind too. It was always on His mind.
And then I think about God’s plan. How He formed the hill Jesus would die on.
How He designed and grew up the tree that would one day hold His perfect Son.
And how every soul that would soon gaze on Him - on the One on the middle cross - was a hand-crafted child made in His very own image.
Can you even imagine…?
And how did Jesus feel making His way? How did God feel watching His precious Son on His way to do the most important thing?
These are the things I wonder about.
And then… I’m in awe. In awe of the Man, Jesus. The courage. The determined love.
The steadfast, unchanging, merciful love.
The love that moved Him. Drew Him.
There He is. Fixed on us.
Sweat and tears and dust mingling together on the Man about to die for us.
This week, as we walk with Him. As we peer in on His last days before the cross.
Will you let yourself remember? Like, really remember.
Jesus. The Man Who died for you.
And for me too, thank goodness.
Because we needed Him to.
Didn’t we?
Will you let yourself sink into the story in a new way?
Will you let yourself wonder about Jerusalem? About how the voices must have floated through the streets?
The dust. Oh my, the dust. The hustle and bustle.
The smells of fresh bread. The chatter in the market. The palms.
The Man on the donkey.
The Man. On the donkey.
Making His way to the cross.
Let’s linger in it with Him.
Let’s not let this story be so familiar that we lose the awe of it.
His life for ours. His willing sacrifice on a tree built by Holy hands. On a hill carved knowingly.
All roads lead to this moment coming up.
All of history points to this place. And while Heaven holds its breath, let’s join in on the most beautiful, most terrible, most precious, most necessary week in all of forever.
He is on His way to the cross. And while He makes His way, we are on His mind.
Thank You Jesus for what You’re about to do. For Who You are. And all this means.
We are with You.
Love Nicole
